Priorities, 2009-2010

            These priorities are meant to underpin and promote Ohio State’s six overarching aims: forging One Ohio state; putting students first in access to academic excellence; developing faculty and staff talent; enhancing our research prominence; expanding outreach and collaboration with communities we serve; and ensuring operating and financial soundness and simplicity.

            The priorities are as follows:

  • Developing processes to support the conversion to semesters;
  • Increasing the effectiveness of student advising support;
  • Expanding the effectiveness of student financial aid support;
  • Assessing and improving career service activities for students;
  • Developing programs to further advocate faculty for national honors and recognitions;
  • Enhancing our success in federal and private research funding;
  • Providing greater support for faculty and staff development;
  • Increasing the numbers of high ability minority and women students, as well as faculty, at all levels;
  • Working closely with the Chancellor of the Board of Regents on new and expanded initiatives such as the Third Frontier;
  • Increasing coordination between faculty units and academic programs, with a focus on the life and environmental sciences; and
  • Planning for continued growth in an uncertain economic environment.
