Committee
on Academic Misconduct
2. Duty and Jurisdiction of The Committee
on Academic Misconduc
2.1 A
duty of this Committee is to investigate or establish procedures for
the investigation of all reported cases of student academic misconduct
and to decide upon suitable disciplinary action.
(See University Rule 3335-5-487)
2.2 The
Committee does not have jurisdiction over cases involving student academic
misconduct in professional colleges having a published honor code. These
colleges follow their own codes in investigating reported cases of academic
misconduct and in determining suitable disciplinary action. When the
action taken involves suspension, dismissal, or entry on the students
permanent record, a recommendation to that effect shall be made to the
Senior Vice President and Provost for review and action. In the course
of following its own procedures, any professional college may consult
with The Committee on Academic Misconduct.
(See 3335-5-487; 3335-31-02)
2.3 The
Committee may, at its discretion, refer cases to the University Judicial
Panel if it determines that the alleged academic misconduct is incidental
to some other misconduct.
(See 3335-31-02 and 3335-31-03)
