Alex Cofield gave an update on the Capital Projects hearings. The hearings are scheduled to take place during the weeks of February 7 through February 21. Track II (support units), Track III (Campus Partners & Science Technology Campus), and Track IV (Long Term Leases & Building Acquisitions) capital project notebooks will be distributed to Space Facilities Committee members before the February meeting.
Jill Morelli and Lee Walker gave an update on the Capital Bill. It is still waiting to be passed and if it is not passed by the end of January or by February 8 at the very latest, then it will not be passed during this legislative session. If it is not passed, three of OSU’s major Capital Projects will be impacted – Larkins, Mechanical Engineering, and Psychology.
If the bill is passed, the Board of Regents will have to be notified within sixty days as to which Basic Renovation Projects are going forward. Jim Stevens and Mike Sherman will need to negotiate what percentage of the renovation money will go to programmatic basic renovation requests and to Physical Facilities for their repairs and renovations. Glen Funk will re-circulate the list of Basic Renovation Projects which were decided on last year and which will need to be narrowed down again once the Capital Bill is passed.
Jim Stevens passed out his preliminary, tentative list of Physical Facilities’ renovation projects for the upcoming biennium. There was discussion about the list and funding sources for various Physical Facilities’ projects.
Jill Morelli brought forth a funding request for the Minton Rose Garden. The request was tabled pending further information and John Meyer’s presence at the meeting at which the request will again be brought forward. The funding request for planning funds for the OSUMC master plan was also tabled until a later date when Eric Kunz can be in attendance.
Glen Funk distributed the MOU/POR update. There were no questions
