Notes from Meeting

Bill Hoza and Jim Palavin, co-chairs of the Classroom Readiness Committee, presented an update on classroom renovations and monies spent.

Scott Conlon presented an update on the Libraries restoration/renovation. Construction is to begin in Fall/Winter ’05 with grand opening in Fall of ’08. Molly requested that the design be presented to the Council of Student Affairs and Scott will do this.

Laura Shinn presented the River Towers Sub-district plan. A first draft of this can be found on Facilities Planning & Development’s Web site: www.FPD.ohio-state.edu.

Glen Funk presented an update on Capital Funding. There will be between a 10% and 20% cut. This will have a significant impact not only on capital projects, but also on renovation projects and OBOR equipment funds. Whatever the cut is, the figure will apply not only to this biennium but also to the next biennium.

Glen along with Alex Cofield handed out the Capital Request notebooks and presented a short overview of the requests. The funding criteria sheet was also handed out. There are twenty-eight requests. Before the next Space Facilities Committee meeting, members of the Committee are to narrow down this list to eight recommendations (the eight to include those projects already in the funding queue) and send to Alayne Parson. These will be discussed at the November meeting.

There was a revision to the 2003-2004 Space Facilities Budget sheet. The $7,563.69 left in the budget will be rolled into the 2004-2005 budget.
