Space and Facilities Committee
Next Meeting: Thursday, September 18, 2008
The Space and Facilities Committee (SFC) was formed in 1992 to facilitate cooperation and coordination among the vice presidential areas in regard to space and facility issues. Specifically, the committee addresses issues in three major areas: space allocation and reallocation; capital planning and capital projects; and resource allocation.
Current members of the committee include representatives from the Offices of Student Affairs, Research, Development, Facilities Operation and Development, Health Sciences, Space Planning and Real Estate, Budget Planning, the Treasurer, and Academic Affairs. There are also two faculty representatives (the Chair of the University Senate Fiscal Committee and the Chair of the Committee on the Physical Environment or their representatives).
The Classroom Readiness Committee, once a sub-committee of SFC, deals with issues involving classroom fix-ups and quality issues, support of instructional technology, coordination of renovation projects that will impact use, and representation of the classroom pool on all capital projects that have a potential impact on classrooms. The Space and Facilities Committee provides substantial funding for these initiatives.
