Mac A. Stewart
Vice Provost for Minority Affairs and Special Assistant to the President for Diversity

Mac A. Stewart is Vice Provost for Minority Affairs, a post to which he was appointed in 2001 following brief service as interim vice provost. Before his interim appointment, he was dean of University College and associate provost for undergraduate studies from 1991 to 2001.

In 2005 he was also named special assistant to the president for diversity.

As a member of both the Department of Human Development and Family and Science and the School of Educational Policy and Leadership, Vice Provost Stewart has published widely in professional journals and has been a member of the editorial board of The Negro Educational Review since 1983 and editor-in-chief since 1999. His awards include the 1992 Frederick Patterson Award of The Greater Columbus United Negro College Fund.

Vice Provost Stewart earned his B.A. degree from Morehouse College, his M.A. from Atlanta University, and his Ph.D. from Ohio State. He has done post-doctoral work at Harvard University and the University of Bonn, West Germany. He has been at Ohio State since 1970.
