*****

Buckeye Precollege Summer Exploration offers middle and high school students one-week intensive enrichment courses intended to introduce them to new areas of study or allow them to engage in content they may already have an interest in. In-person classes meet from 9am to 4pm each day, and are taught by Ohio State faculty and staff. Teaching is active and hands-on, and encourages participants to actively engage with the instructional team and their fellow participants. These courses are not for grade or credit, and are designed for self-motivated learners.

Complete information about our Summer 2024 programs will be posted in December 2023, and our program application will open in January 2024.

What to Bring

What to Wear

All participants should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for the classroom, as well as for a range of temperatures. We will be walking outside between the drop-off/pick-up location, classroom, and dining facility, but will spend most of the day inside air-conditioned classrooms. So, dressing in layers (including a sweater or sweatshirt) is recommended, as are comfortable walking shoes.

Course-specific Requirements

Some courses may have additional requirements. Details will be provided to participants closer to the start of their program.

Friday What to Wear

On the last day of classes each week, we will take pictures of each class cohort. We encourage participants to wear their Buckeye Precollege t-shirt on Fridays for this event!

Daily Packing List

  • Cell phone and charger
  • Personal academic supplies, such as pens/pencils, notebook, and backpack. Any special academic materials needed for courses beyond this basic list will be provided by the program.
  • Snacks and water: We recommend that all participants bring their own snacks, so that each individual’s tastes and dietary needs are met, as well as a refillable water bottle. However, we request that, for the safety of participants with nut allergies, no snacks containing nuts be brought to the program.
  • Personal medications in their original labeled containers (if taken during the day)
  • Sunscreen (on sunny days) and umbrella or rain jacket (on rainy days)
Pick-up and Drop-off Locations

Pick-up and drop-off locations will be provided closer to the start of each session.
