Dear Colleagues,
The close of Spring semester brings us close to the launch of our new General Education program. The first Bookend, GenEd 1201, is scheduled for autumn term and is seeking instructors. Entries below describe resources to support students and their advisors in identifying appropriate courses and to help faculty engage with the information literacy focus in the new program.
We have launched a new and expanded website that highlights the goals of the program and explains how students will navigate this new curriculum. The class search function linked through that site allows students, faculty, and advisors to see what offerings available in the categories of the new GE.
Additionally, I encourage you to read about and share recent updates to Buckeyelink Class Search (SIS) and classes.osu.edu. Improvements include refreshed user interfaces and greater class search functionality.
More updates and resources will be released in the coming weeks as we prepare for our launch in August. We are proud and thankful for everything that has been accomplished this term and excited about all of the new courses and new opportunities you have helped build for our new GE.
Workshop Series: Information Literacy and GE Expected Learning Outcomes
|
Beginning May 19, the University Libraries will be offering weekly workshops themed around the GE Expected Learning Outcomes related to information literacy. Anyone who is teaching or developing a course which includes information literacy ELOs is encouraged to attend. Workshops will take place on Thursdays at noon via Zoom. All workshops will be recorded.
For interested participants, attendance at the workshops will also count toward completion of the Teaching Information Literacy endorsement from the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning. For questions, contact Jane Hammons.
