Gregoire extended as dean of College of Social Work through June 2022

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to share that Dean Tom Gregoire will extend his leadership of the College of Social Work for another two years. Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, his term as dean will be extended through June 30, 2022, at which time Tom anticipates returning to the faculty.

Tom has led Social Work since November 2008. During Tom’s tenure, the college has significantly enhanced its academic profile, increasing its research funding, scholarly activity, student enrollment and fundraising. Reflecting its excellence, the college has been ranked sixth among public universities and 13th overall by U.S. News & World Report, the highest rankings in the college’s history.

Under his leadership, the college has also extended opportunities for students through collaborative undergraduate degree programs on four regional campuses, an online Master of Social Work degree and other technology-enhanced learning. Tom’s highly collaborative and community-engaged approach also has created a supportive environment for faculty and staff.

Please join me in congratulating Tom on his extension.

Sincerely,

Bruce A. McPheron, PhD
Executive Vice President and Provost
