Jaggars reappointed as dean of University Libraries

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce the reappointment of Vice Provost Damon E. Jaggars as dean of University Libraries. Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, his reappointment is effective Jan. 1, 2021, through June 30, 2025.

Under Damon’s tenure, University Libraries has advanced critical academic partnerships aligned with our core mission by empowering effective teaching and scholarship while advancing the university’s land grant values through expanded outreach initiatives in Ohio and beyond.

University Libraries is actively engaged in key strategic campus partnerships and initiatives, including the Research Commons, the Affordable Learning Exchange, the Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning, the Undergraduate Research Program, the First Year Experience and the Second-year Transformational Experience Program, among many others.

Additionally, University Libraries has expanded outreach efforts with central Ohio communities through partnerships with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio, Columbus City Schools, the Mid-Ohio Foodbank and the Expanding Visions Foundation, a Columbus-based nonprofit that works with at-risk youth to provide career development and leadership training.

Ranked in the top 10 of U.S. public research libraries, University Libraries is also an active participant in OhioLINK, the Big Ten Academic Alliance and the HathiTrust Digital Library, a repository that has provided Ohio State students and faculty access to millions of additional in-copyright books during the COVID-19 disruption.

Please join me in thanking Damon for his dynamic leadership and congratulating him on his reappointment as dean.
