I am pleased to advise you that Joseph E. Brandesky Jr., PhD, The Martha W. Farmer Endowed Professor in Theatre and professor, Department of Theatre at the Ohio State University at Lima, has accepted our offer to serve as the interim dean and director of our Lima campus. Subject to approval by the university's Board of Trustees, Professor Brandesky's appointment is effective July 8, 2017.

Professor Brandesky served as the associate director and then as director of Ohio State's Center for Slavic and East European Culture. He has taught undergraduate- and graduate-level courses on the Lima and Columbus campuses in addition to continuing education courses on the Lima campus. His scholarly work is published in essays, reviews, exhibition catalogs and as editor of Twentieth Century Theatre Design: Metaphor and Irony Revisited.

His service contributions include committees on strategic planning, promotion and tenure and faculty rights, roles, and responsibilities. He received the Lima campus's Distinguished Teaching Award and twice was honored with its Faculty Scholar Award. In addition, he recognized with an Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching, the university's highest award for teaching excellence.

He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in theatre from Southwest Texas State University and a doctorate in Russian and East European Theatre and Drama from the University of Kansas and joined Ohio State's Lima campus faculty in 1988.

Please join me in congratulating Joe. I look forward to working with him in his new role on the Lima campus.
