Lloyd to step down after second term as Dentistry dean

Dear Colleagues,

We are writing to share that after two impactful terms as dean, Patrick M. Lloyd, DDS, MS, intends to step down as the leader of the College of Dentistry at the end of his term in August 2021. We have appreciated the leadership he has shown since 2011 in this role and celebrate the accomplishments of the college. We will appoint a committee in the next few weeks to conduct a nationwide search for the college’s next dean.

Dean Lloyd joined Ohio State after serving for seven years as dean of the University of Minnesota’s School of Dentistry. As a health science dean at Ohio State, his leadership has strengthened the college’s already impressive academic and clinical credentials.

The college will open the $95 million expansion and renovation of Postle Hall next year, which will allow it to serve more students and patients in new academic and clinical spaces. Among his other accomplishments, Dean Lloyd led the development of a new strategic plan; provided support that helped double research funding to $6.4 million; enhanced partnerships in education, patient care, and research with the Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital; and expanded the college’s outreach to serve dental patients in Columbus and throughout Ohio.

Please join us in thanking Dean Lloyd for his contributions to the College of Dentistry, the health sciences, and the broader Ohio State community. We will announce details about the search process in the coming weeks.

Sincerely,
