As associate vice provost for outreach and engagement, Stephen Myers provides leadership in fostering a university-wide culture of collaboration and engagement. His responsibilities include oversight for a portfolio of university engagement programs informed by the universitys College Engagement Council.
From 2012-15, he had a leadership role in building the infrastructure and relationships necessary to deploy the Discovery Themes initiative. He was appointed as the Carole A. Anderson Faculty Fellow from 2012-13 and associate provost from 2013-15. From 2011-12, he was a fellow in the American Council on Education.
From 2005-12, Dr. Myers was assistant director of the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC), the research arm of the College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. During that time he led the development of the Ohio BioProducts Innovation Center, an industry/university initiative advancing innovation and commercialization.
Dr. Myers was chair of Ohio States Department of Horticulture and Crop Science from 1999-2005. Earlier appointments include service as head of the Department of Horticulture at the University of Arkansas and leadership of a teaching, extension outreach, and research program specializing in pomology at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Myers received BS and MS degrees from Clemson University and a PhD from The Ohio State University.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Council on Engagement and Outreach of the Association of Public and Land Grant Universities. He also serves on the boards of the Engagement Scholarship Consortium and Social Ventures.
