New Faculty Orientation

New Faculty Orientation

Welcome to Ohio State! New Faculty Orientation 2020 will take place Wednesday, August 19, and Thursday, August 20. This university-level orientation is meant for all new faculty and complements any programming offered by your college or department.

Due to uncertain circumstances as a result of COVID-19, we have not yet determined whether New Faculty Orientation will take place on the Columbus campus or virtually. In either case, there will be real-time content on the two scheduled days, so please reserve the time on your calendar.

Interested in attending the 2020 event? Sign-up to be notified when registration opens and review last year's agenda and materials below.

Welcome from the Provost

Dear Colleagues:

You accepted our offer to join our faculty and, on behalf of our academic community, we look forward to a robust, mutually advantageous partnership with you.

To begin this partnership, New Faculty Orientation provides a big-picture view of the university’s principled and philosophical approaches and policies to support you as a faculty member.  You will also learn about promotion and tenure, our First 90 Days Checklist, benefits, and much more.

As you settle into your academic career at Ohio State, we are committed to creating the best possible environment for you to conduct your research, to hone your teaching skills, to bring your ideas and expertise to our shared-governance system, and to serve your discipline and our global community.

We developed a website that will be a great resource for you, especially during your first year.  In addition to New Faculty Orientation materials, we included a New Faculty Toolkit and helpful information about Columbus. Also, bookmark the Office of Academic Affairs for frequent news and other updates.

Welcome to Ohio State!
