Ways to support student success
As we prepare for the start of classes next week, please encourage instructors to review "6 ways to support student academic success this autumn." The Office of Student Academic Success and partners across the university developed these tips and associated resources to help instructors support students.
New leaders joining Ohio State
We welcome two academic leaders who are starting new roles this week:
Carroll Ann Trotman, BDS, MA, MS, is Ohio State's new dean of the College of Dentistry. She was previously associate dean for faculty development and chair of the Department of Orthodontics at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.
Mollie V. Blackburn is now Ohio State's faculty ombudsperson. She is a professor in the College of Education and Human Ecology.
We also congratulate Keesha Mitchell, JD, who was recently named associate vice president of the Office of Institutional Equity after a national search. She had served as interim leader of OIE since November 2020.
Provost Gilliam also recently announced that Cindy Leavitt, an accomplished IT leader with two decades of experience supporting national research universities, will become our next vice president and chief information officer on Sept. 20. Leavitt will join Ohio State from Temple University.
