President Carter discusses priorities, approach on first day of semester

“I’m really excited to be here in Columbus, Ohio, to start the first day of classes,” said President Walter “Ted” Carter Jr. “There is a lot to do, and I will tell you my priorities here going into the first couple days are to be humble, to listen, to learn, and to earn the trust of not only our students, our faculty, our staff, our researchers, our athletics, but the community. And I’m excited to get going.”

Telling Your Story workshop Feb. 16

All faculty preparing their dossier for promotion and tenure review are invited to the Telling Your Story workshop on Feb. 16 at 10 a.m. Participants will learn how to create a compelling professional narrative, including presenting interdisciplinary work to different audiences, and clearly identify themselves as their story's central character.

Understanding that not all faculty can find the time to attend the in-person workshop, we will design some of the content into a webinar that will be made available on our website. We also ask all those who plan to attend to listen to the virtual presentation prior to the workshop so that we can focus on interactive exercises to help attendees build their professional narratives. The presentation will be posted in late January on the Faculty Affairs website.

Mary Rodriguez is a Provost’s Midcareer Scholar and associate professor of community leadership in the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.
