Guidance on instructional breaks
Dear colleagues,
As you know, the first of our spring 2021 instructional breaks will take place next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday (Feb. 23-24). The second will be March 31-April 1.
Please communicate with your instructors that these breaks were designed with student wellness in mind, and academic assignments should reflect this approach. Classes are not scheduled during the break, and instructors also should not be assigning academic work with the expectation that students complete it on Tuesday and/or Wednesday.
For both instructors and students, we also strongly urge everyone to maintain their vigilance about COVID safety practices during the break. This includes limiting travel and avoiding gatherings.
Thank you for promoting the health and well-being of the entire university community. The pandemic has been a challenge for all of us, and we need to continually support one another with care and understanding.
Thank you,
Bruce A. McPheron, PhD
