Multiple choice questions (MCQ) are a staple of assessment in large enrollment courses. However, writing MCQs can be a difficult time-consuming process. During this interactive workshop, participants will learn the steps that are involved in writing effective multiple-choice questions including aligning questions with clearly written learning objectives and determining the level of learning examined by individual questions. Participants will also learn more about item analysis, evaluating the effectiveness of MCQs and how to use AI as a thought partner when drafting MCQs.

After attending the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • write and critique vignettes or cases for MCQ with AI
  • write and critique MCQ items with AI
  • analyze the performance of items
