STEAMM RISING
A collaboration with the city of Columbus, Columbus City Schools and Columbus State Community College to establish pathways for children to careers in science, technology, engineering, the arts, mathematics and medicine.
The future is powered by STEAMM (science, technology, engineering, art, mathematics and medicine), and that future depends on a generation whose awareness, aptitude and skills for innovation are nurtured from a young age.
Ohio State has joined with the City of Columbus, Columbus City Schools and Columbus State Community College (CSCC) to strengthen the alignment of STEAMM curricula and career pathways for students in grades 11-12 and remove barriers to pursuing undergraduate studies in STEAMM fields.

The success of this program in attracting students to STEAMM pathways, coupled with the region’s heightened need for highly skilled talent, led these partners to establish STEAMM Rising. This program adds grades K-10 to our collaborative efforts around STEAMM education, with a focus on offering equitable access to underrepresented students.
STEAMM Rising is an ecosystem based on exposure, access and collaboration. Together, our partners show youth the exciting possibilities of a future in STEAMM; foster foundational skills that build throughout K-12; increase student competitiveness for higher education opportunities and ensure preparedness for success in STEAMM careers.
STEAMM Rising Summer Institute
The STEAMM Rising Summer Institute is a design thinking opportunity allowing participating Columbus City teachers to experience a variety of STEAMM activities on campus and to create a plan for taking those activities and skills back to their classrooms and schools.
STEAMM Rising’s program activities are built around our collaborative community of participating teachers, STEAMM experts and industry representatives working together to cultivate the next generation of STEAMM talent.
