OnCourse FAQs for Faculty

What is OnCourse/Navigate360?

OnCourse is a licensed 3rd party platform that Ohio State staff use to monitor student progress and keep records of student meetings and plans. These are all part of the student academic record. Additionally, OnCourse brings in student data from the Student Information System (SIS) each night to assist staff with this work. Most faculty use OnCourse to submit progress reports on students.

Is OnCourse a legitimate resource?

Yes, OnCourse has been approved for use by the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation, Risk Management and the Accessibility Office for use at the university. It was purchased by the Office of Academic Affairs to assist with student success efforts.

How many staff and students use OnCourse?

In 2024-2025, over 2,000 staff and 99% of undergraduate students logged into OnCourse.

I want to submit a progress report for a student, but I don't have access to OnCourse. How do I get access?

All faculty members are eligible for access to OnCourse.

What happens once I submit a progress report?

An automated email is sent from the system to all staff assigned to the student and/or campus retention staff. This invites the staff person to log in to OnCourse and review your progress report. Another email is sent to the student encouraging them to reach out to you, talk to their advisor, and access tutoring help. Staff receive copies of your comments, but students do not. Once staff follow up with students and have a plan, staff will close the progress report and you will be notified via automated email.

What are some other ways I can use OnCourse?

Faculty can schedule office hours or labs via OnCourse, and there may be other ways you can use OnCourse to assist you with your work. Please contact us at oncourse@osu.edu for more information.
