Trevor Brown serves as the interim executive vice president and provost of The Ohio State University.
As chief academic officer, he oversees the institution’s academic enterprise, which includes 15 colleges, four regional campuses and more than 8,600 faculty who serve nearly 67,000 students. He also leads the Office of Academic Affairs, which drives Ohio State’s academic excellence and supports the students, faculty and communities the university serves.
This collective effort fosters Ohio State’s reputation as one of the world’s preeminent public research universities and the flagship land-grant institution of Ohio.
Interim Provost Brown previously served as the dean of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs since its inception in 2015. Prior to that, he served as director of the then-Glenn School, where he has been a faculty member since 2001.
In June 2025, he took on an additional role as senior vice provost for academic affairs in the Office of Academic Affairs. In this role, Interim Provost Brown served as deputy to the provost and as a partner and resource for deans, vice provosts and other academic leaders — and helped lead strategy for ensuring student academic success and strong student outcomes. Interim Provost Brown earned his PhD in public policy and political science from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the Department of Political Science, Indiana University, and a BA in public policy from Stanford University.
