OnCourse FAQs for Students

Why is the OnCourse app called Navigate360? Why do emails from OnCourse say Navigate360?

OnCourse is a 3rd party platform that was created by EAB (Education Advisory Board). EAB's name for the platform is Navigate360, so some of the platform functions refer to the platform as such, even though at Ohio State we call it OnCourse.

What is the difference between logging in on the app and logging in on a computer?

The only difference between logging in to the app and logging in on the computer is the layout and format of the content. Everything you see on the computer is linked in the app, and vice-versa.

When I try to log in to OnCourse, it says "Navigate360 Central Authorization Failure." Why can't I log in?
  • If you are a new student, you won’t be able to log in to OnCourse until you accept admission and your acceptance fully processes. This can take a week or two after you pay your admissions fees. If you need help now, you can contact Buckeye Link at 614-292-0300, or submit a help ticket at help.osu.edu, and they will direct you to the correct office.
  • If you are a dismissed student, are on a leave of absence, or have been away from the university for more than a few semesters, you won’t be able to access OnCourse. You will need to start your return process.

  • If you are a graduate or professional student, you won’t be able to access OnCourse until later in summer 2026. You’ll be notified when you get access.

If you are not a new student, returning student, or graduate/professional student, but are still having issues logging in to OnCourse, please submit a tech ticket.

There are a lot of options in the new OnCourse app. What do they all mean?
  • Appointments — shows your upcoming appointments, past appointments, and your team, which includes your assigned advisor, success coaches, etc.
  • Appointment Summary Reports — shows everything staff wrote down from your past appointments. You can filter by the type of appointment and star appointment summaries to find them quickly.
  • Notes — shows anything a staff person added to OnCourse, including copies of emails you exchanged with them, documents showing major changes, etc.
  • Progress Reports — if a faculty person has concerns about how you’re doing in their class, they can submit a progress report for you. You’ll find that information here.
  • My Docs — shows Appointment Summaries, Notes, Progress Reports, and Hand Raises in one place.
  • People — find your assigned staff, including advisors, and your instructors. If you click on their name, you will see their email address. If staff have availability to meet, you can schedule an appointment with them here. You can also see when they are available to meet for scheduled appointments and drop-ins at any of their locations. If you click on the Instructor tab, you will see all your current or future classes’ instructors and the classes they teach. If you click on their name, you can find their email address as well.
  • Places — shows a list of academic resources organized by your academic level and the campus you are on. These can be physical places, virtual resources, websites, and more offered at Ohio State to help you do your best. For instance, you can find tutoring hours, the undergraduate fellowship office, the website for the academic calendar, and more.
  • Class Schedule — you can see a list of your classes or a schedule view by weekday. Keep in mind that if you change your classes, this information might take a day or two to update.
  • Buckeye Degree Planner — links to the BDP website, which helps you plan out your courses so you can complete your degree on time.
  • Buckeye Link — you can find your statement of account or financial aid, change your preferred name, address, and phone number, and check on your to-do list at this website.
  • CarmenCanvas — the app where your instructors will post assignments and grades.
  • Account — shows your Student ID number and email.
  • Help — Hand Raise allows you to let the OnCourse team know you need help scheduling an appointment. Undergraduate Advising Help shows the Schedule Appointment button and has a link to a list of all the advising offices. Technical Help- provides trouble-shooting information and OnCourse Team contact info.
Who can see my appointment summaries, notes, progress reports and hand raises?

All staff who work directly with you and have a reason to look at your appointment summaries, notes, progress reports and hand raises can view them. This is to help them help you. Staff who can review your documents follow FERPA guidelines- only those with a legitimate educational reason, such as supporting you academically, have the right to view your academic information.

How long is my information stored in OnCourse?

Staff can review student information for up to three years after graduation or a student leaves the university.

How long after I graduate can I review my documents?

You will lose access to OnCourse when you lose access to your Ohio State email, or around the second week of the semester after you graduate or leave the university. You can ask your advisor or advising office to send you your documents at any time, however. Your records are deleted around 10 years after you graduate per our records retention policy.
