In December 2026, Ohio State Marion will premiere Echoes of Marion: A Living History Project, a large-scale original work staged at the historic Palace Theatre as the culminating artistic event of Marion’s year-long engagement with America at 250.
Rooted in months of community story-gathering, intergenerational dialogue, and collaborative creation, the production will weave together spoken narrative, music, archival images, and local performance traditions. Community members, artists, youth, and Ohio State faculty and students will co-create a tapestry of Marion’s past, present, and future—from the city’s manufacturing legacy and migration stories to its ongoing transformations in culture, leadership, and innovation.
More celebration than commemoration, Echoes of Marion highlights the voices that define and propel Marion today. It invites audiences to reflect on who we have been, who we are becoming, and how a community shapes its own future.
