Description

Ohio Goes to the Movies is a statewide celebration of movies showcasing Ohio actors, directors, writers, and composers, as well as Ohio locations and topics. We’re joining the initiative to present two films adapted from works by Columbus native and Ohio State graduate James Thurber.

The Male Animal features Henry Fonda as a popular professor at Midwestern University who is facing dismissal for his outspoken views. Based on Thurber’s Broadway play, the film highlights Central Ohio locales and unfolds during homecoming weekend—featuring a match against Ohio State–rival Michigan. (101 mins., 35mm)

Produced by United Productions of America, the animated classic The Unicorn in the Garden brings to life Thurber’s short story about a browbeaten husband who discovers the unthinkable in his backyard. (7 mins., DCP)

Postscreening discussion led by Head of Film David Filipi.

Free for all audiences with ticket.
