Description

Join us for the 2025 Zacher Lecture in the Humanities featuring artist Stephanie Dinkins, who will present The Stories We Tell Our Machines: Data Narratives and Algorithmic Futures.

Dinkins’ work sits at the intersection of art, community knowledge and artificial intelligence. Through projects like If We Don’t, Who Will? and Data Trust, she challenges dominant data practices and reimagines AI systems as spaces of care, cultural specificity and community agency. Her talk will explore how the narratives we encode into machine learning systems shape the world we create — highlighting both the risks of extractive data practices and the potential for more equitable and empathetic AI. A reception will follow.

Host: College of Arts and Sciences Humanities Institute
