Dear All,
Earlier this month I shared that Dean Karla Zadnik will return to the faculty of the College of Optometry on July 1, following 12 years of transformative leadership and impact. Please join me once again in sharing our heartfelt appreciation to Dean Zadnik. She is a remarkable member of our Ohio State community, and I am looking forward to her continued contributions to her college and university.
Today, I am pleased to share that I am launching a search to identify the next outstanding leader of the College of Optometry. Given the existing strength of the college’s faculty, student outcomes, research portfolio and national profile, I intend for this to be an internal search within the college.
To assist the search, I have established an advisory committee that will be chaired by Carroll Ann Trotman, dean of the College of Dentistry, and supported by the executive search team within Human Resources. The committee will also include:
- Kate Horton, business manager, College of Optometry
- Marjean Kulp, Distinguished Professor, College of Optometry
- Nicky Lai, clinical professor, College of Optometry
- Jason Lemon, vice provost and dean for online learning
- Teng Leng Ooi, professor, College of Optometry
As part of the process, we will ensure opportunities for faculty, staff and students to provide meaningful input.
Once again, I thank Dean Zadnik for her excellent leadership of the College of Optometry and her remarkable service to Ohio State. I am also appreciative of the members of the search advisory committee for their dedication to helping us identify the college’s next dean.
