Dear First-year Buckeyes,
I hope your first year is off to a great start, and that you found time to rest and enjoy the Labor Day weekend. I spent my weekend enjoying the Buckeyes’ first win of the season and watching hundreds of band alumni march in unison on the field during halftime. With another weekend already upon us, I’m looking forward to watching our national champion football team visit Texas to take on the Longhorns.
It’s hard to believe, but it has already been nearly three weeks since we came together for President’s Convocation. I’m still excited about that electrifying experience and about having the opportunity to join President Ravi V. Bellamkonda, other university leaders and college deans to come together with thousands of you to celebrate the Ohio State traditions like “Carmen Ohio.”
I imagine that the days since the start of your first year have passed quickly. Time moves fast on our campuses.
At Convocation, President Bellamkonda invited you to experience extraordinary at Ohio State, and I hope that you are already finding the people, places and courses that will help to make this big university feel like your home.
The transition to college is a big deal, and if you’re feeling overwhelmed, homesick or out of place, you’re not alone. As Senior Vice President for Student Life Dr. Melissa Shivers noted at Convocation, lean into all the resources we have at Ohio State. Your health and well-being are important to us and crucial to your success.
Our university has many support services for students. The Student Wellness Center, Student Advocacy Center and numerous other support units across campus have several resources that can assist you throughout the year. The Department of Public Safety provides tips to keep you safe on and off campus.
I wish you tremendous success throughout the autumn semester, and I hope that you are finding your place at Ohio State. Take care of yourself and one another.
Go Bucks!
Sincerely,
Trevor Brown
Interim Executive Vice President and Provost
