Ravi V. Bellamkonda, 18th president of The Ohio State University, is encouraging the university community to embrace Ohio State’s scope and scale and commit to becoming the nation’s finest public university.

Ohio State President Ravi V. Bellamkonda announced detailed plans today for BuildX, an initiative designed to help student founders move through every stage of the startup process, from idea exploration to building a company and investor readiness. 

Academic freedom is a hallmark of higher education, but as universities find themselves examining more socially, politically, and scientifically complex issues, stronger public debate follows.  

The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, and other university services, will move into downtown Columbus, placing students, staff and faculty at the center of the city’s legal, policy, civic and cultural crossroads.

More than 3,100 people filled the staircases in Ohio Stadium this morning for The Ohio State University’s annual 9/11 memorial stair climb. From cadets and midshipmen to students, university leaders and local first responders, a record number of supporters joined in to remember the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

Hosted by the Office of Academic Affairs, this series of interactive sessions on Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 offer an open platform to share your perspectives, learn how our values guide institutional strategy, and contribute directly to Ohio State's accreditation review.

In addition to these open sessions, the committee is holding listening sessions with the University Senate’s constituent groups: USAC, IPC, CGS, USG, and Faculty Council.

The permanent honorific title is awarded annually to tenure-track professors who have been at Ohio State for at least five years and have demonstrated truly exceptional records in teaching, research, scholarly or creative work, and service. Distinguished University Professors become members of the President’s and Provost’s Advisory Committee and are awarded a $30,000 one-time grant to support their academic work. The university has awarded just 78 faculty since the creation of the honor in 1987.

Scott Brown's connection to The Ohio State University started long before he ever set foot on campus as a student.

Growing up in northwest Ohio, Brown was first drawn to the university through football. Childhood photos show him sporting Ohio State gear years before he would arrive on campus as a first-generation college student and discover that the university would eventually shape the course of his career.

Douglass Schumacher has been studying lasers for almost 40 years. His study of light at such an intense level has been a passion since he joined Bell Laboratories after his undergraduate work, and today involves not just lasers themselves, but also protons, neutrons and electrons, the particles that make up atoms. 

The newly renovated Campbell Hall on The Ohio State University’s Columbus campus reopened last week, in time for the start of the new academic year. A host of facility upgrades are designed to enhance the student experience at Ohio State, university officials said.
