National Disability Employment Awareness Month is an opportunity to recognize an important part of what makes The Ohio State University stronger: the talent and contributions of employees with disabilities.
Observed each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month celebrates the contributions of people with disabilities to America’s workplaces and promotes employment opportunities and accessible workplace cultures. The 2026 theme,“Celebrating Value and Talent,” highlights the skills and contributions employees with disabilities bring to their workplaces and communities.
Buckeyes can participate by recognizing colleagues’ contributions, learning about disability access, accommodations and resources, participating in educational opportunities, and considering ways to remove barriers in our everyday work. These actions support Ohio State’s commitment to ensuring people with disabilities have equal access to university programs and reasonable accommodations.
We can also recognize members of our community who are advancing accessibility. Student Life Disability Services honors students, faculty and staff through annual awards recognizing leadership and contributions that help create an accessible campus, including the Dick Maxwell Award for faculty and staff.
Throughout October and all year, take time to celebrate your colleagues, learn from their experiences and help build a workplace where every Buckeye can contribute and thrive.
