How AI Fluency fits into your four years

AI Fluency builds over time, starting in your first year and growing with your major. While each field takes its own approach, students often follow a common path over four years.

Year One: Building a foundation

You are introduced to core AI concepts about artificial intelligence., exploring how AI works, its benefits and limitations, and why high‑quality input matters. In some majors, degree‑specific courses may begin building on these ideas.
Learn how first-year students are learning to use AI thoughtfully.

Years Two and Three

As you move deeper into your major, you begin applying AI to goals specific to your field. You learn how to use AI tools to support your work, evaluate outputs for accuracy and relevance, and think critically about real‑world and ethical implications. How this looks can vary by discipline.
Explore how students build AI-powered solutions with students from different majors through hackathons.

Year Four

Your experience culminates in an AI‑related project, capstone or experiential learning opportunity connected to your major.

Will AI replace what I’m learning in my major?

AI Fluency builds on your major and helps strengthen the work you already do. It does not replace core knowledge or skills.

Will every course include AI?

AI Fluency is built across your four years, so you learn when and how AI makes sense in your field. Some courses may include AI, while others won’t, and that’s intentional.
