Writing Effective Assessment Questions: Multiple Choice Mayhem
This session on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, from 1 to 2:30 p.m., will help educators recognize high-quality, content-driven assessments and provide an opportunity to experience poorly written test items from the point of view of the test-taker. Learn multiple-choice question-writing "rules," such as including plausible distractors; recognize common test-item pitfalls, like convergence; and understand how smart test-takers use grammatical cues and distractor length to make educated guesses.Learn More and Register

Analysis: Ohio State generates $15.2 billion in economic impact annually for the state

Drake announced today at the Columbus Metropolitan Club the findings of a new economic impact analysis showing that The Ohio State University generates $15.2 billion annually in economic impact for the state of Ohio – which equates to more than $1.735 million in economic impact every hour.
Gretchen Ritter named next dean of the College of Arts and Sciences
Gretchen Ritter, PhD, has accepted an offer to serve as executive dean and vice provost for the College of Arts and Sciences. Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, her appointment is effective Aug. 1, 2019, through July 31, 2024.

Helen I. Malone, PhD, has accepted an offer to serve as vice provost for academic policy and faculty resources. Subject to approval by the Board of Trustees, her appointment is effective June 1, 2019, through May 31, 2024.
Katherine Lasher named to head new Office of Institutional Equity
Ohio State has named Katherine M. Lasher as the associate vice president for the Office of Institutional Equity, a new, centralized unit responsible for the university’s compliance with Title IX, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other federal and state laws and university policies.
