A Buckeye researcher redefines drug design
For Xia Ning, artificial intelligence is a true cognitive partner. She and her colleagues are using the powerful tool to transform how researchers identify promising new drug candidates. “Science needs AI as much as it needs human intuition and wonder,” says Ning, a professor of biomedical informatics and computer science and engineering. “And it needs researchers to understand and confirm the veracity of new findings.”

Kindergarten through 12th-grade teachers and administrators from central Ohio districts recently met with Ohio State faculty and staff at the Columbus campus. The meeting focused on strategies to help students use artificial intelligence effectively and ethically.

Drake Institute Spring 2026 Book Club
The Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning invites educators to critically engage with the evolving landscape of generative AI in higher education. In Generative AI in Higher Education: The ChatGPT Effect, Cecilia Ka Yuk Chan and Tom Colloton offer a detailed exploration of the opportunities, challenges, and ethical considerations of integrating generative AI into academic settings. This book provides educators with practical insights, frameworks, and case studies to navigate this new era of AI-augmented teaching and learning.
Sessions take place from 10-11 a.m. on March 13, March 27 and April 10.
Artificial Intelligence: Propositions from the Arts + Humanities
The Global Arts + Humanities invites you to join them for a series of lectures by artists and scholars whose work foregrounds the ethical obligations arising from the simulation of human intelligence and increased surveillance. These events engage the Society of Fellows 2025-26 annual theme, AI: Creativity + Intelligence + Automation.
NSF ACCESS Regional Workshop
The Ohio Supercomputer Center will host a free, in-person NSF ACCESS Regional AI Workshop and OSC Research Symposium April 14-15, highlighting AI and high-performance computing research.
Teaching support for AI Fluency
The Drake Institute for Teaching and Learning provides a range of resources and learning opportunities to build your knowledge and skills around AI Fluency. Available to all who teach at Ohio State, the offerings will guide you to make informed decisions about designing learning activities that incorporate AI, communicating transparent expectations for AI use and employing teaching strategies that promote students’ acquisition of AI knowledge and skills.
Mind & Machine Alignment Summit: Propose a session
The inaugural Mind & Machine Alignment Summit encourages interested partners to submit a presentation, experience and/or project idea for the July 19-21 event, which brings together social scientists and AI leaders with the shared goal of ensuring AI promotes well-being and aligns with human values. Submissions are due March 16

Canadian Healthcare Technology: AI agents interact with radiologists, technologists and referring physicians
In a demonstration at the RSNA conference last December, Dr. Luciano Prevedello, a radiologist at The Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center, chatted with his AI-enabled computer about a patient’s brain lesion as he created a report. He showed how he could discuss the case with an AI agent, much like he would with a colleague.
